David Steinberg’s career in mental health began in 1986, when he worked at Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute's children's inpatient unit through a fellowship at Dartmouth College. After graduating from Smith School for Social Work Masters program, he spent four years working for the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services and Riverderale Mental Health Association.
In 1996 he opened his private practice and continues to work with individuals, couples, and families. David obtained his PhD from New York University, where he did research on the role the relationships play in chronic pain. His work has brought him experience with psychiatric social work, as well as treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. In order to maintain balance in his personal life, David has studied and explored alternative forms of therapy, including hypnosis, yoga therapy, and meditation. His personal interest in Eastern healing techniques provides a special addition to his approach with clients. He believes that each of us is unique and requires individualized attention and care. New York and Pennsylvania State Licensed Social Worker. Diplomate from the National Association of Social Workers.
